Chrysler, through its subsidiary GEM has unveiled a new eco-friendly electric car dubbed the “Peapod”, which is slated to go into production in 2009. Chrysler has not released much information about the car but the GEM Peopod will be more aerodynamic and an improvement over earlier electric car models from GEM. Seats will be made out of mesh material for better air regulation and recycled material. The GEM Peopod electric car will obtain a top speed of 25mph and can travel up to 30 miles in a single battery charge.

Chrysler has also announced that the GEM name will be changed from Global Electric Motors to GreenEcoMobility.

  1. Hello, My name is Jordan. I was wondering how many volts are in the new lithium ion batteries for the new electric cars for example the Chevy volt or the new Cadillac electric car? If you could help me out that would be great, thanks!

  2. There is an all electric car that is being offered for sale to consumers in the US that is smaller than a Mini, what is the name of the car? How much does it cost? How fast does it go? What company makes it?

  3. Do electric car motors have oil that has to be changed? How are they cooled – coolant? What maintenance is required for an electric motor?

  4. How many volts does an electric car use when running? I know a normal gas powered car when running will use about 14 v. When an electric car is moving at normal speeds how many volts is that?

  5. When driving a hybrid car/gas-electric car, how far can you drive using just the electric power and no gasoline?

  6. Combustion engine cars use the heat produced by the engine to provide warm air for the cabin. electric cars will have significantly less heat. seeing how heat is so power hungry and the point of an electric car is to be efficient, how will electric cars provide heat in the cabin?

  7. Imagine you have an electric car with a specific battery capacity and you want to test the effect of the electric motor to the car’s range.
So, assume you have 2 motors: one with A KW and another with 5A KW.
If placed on the car and used to test the range till total battery depletion (assuming same constant velocity) which motor would lead to higher range?

  8. Now that many of the big manufacturers are planning plug-in electric cars for 2010, what type of electric car would you buy?

Consider that and electric SUV would be powered by lithium ion batteries like a sedan.

I would probably stick with a sedan as I wouldn’t need anything bigger.

  9. I’m doing a school report and I’m comparing electric cars to gasoline powered cars to see if car dealers should sell electric cars.

  11. Well, I know an electric car doesn’t pollute the environment at all, but you got to consider that it is polluting to produce the electricity at the first place. So, how much more does a gas driven car pollute the environment in one mile, compared to producing the electricity needed to drive an electric car for one mile?

  16. I have to build an electric car using circuits. It has to be able to go fast but it also has to have a lot of torque. Does anyone know how i can configure the wirings so that the car will go faster? Also, any ideas on what type of motor to buy?

  18. Hi,
Is there a different between the two or they are the same type of car? Because when I google, I got hybrid electric car.
    Thanks!

  20. And there is more,if you know only one answer that’s ok.
2.How to calculate by voltage and current how strong a electric magnet is?
3.How to calculate the toughness of a neodymium magnet?
4.How to calculate how much voltage and current a generator will generate?
5.What is better for electric car:hub motor i each wheel or a central motor with a drive system?

  22. What car is good for converting to an electric car?
I’m interested in a car that is lightweight, has a manual transmission, and has room for batteries. I’m trying to convert a gas car to an electric car, and I need one that is light, has manual transmission, room for batteries, etc, etc. Has anyone done that and has advice/know a good car for it? I have a limited price range, and I need a relatively cheap car for it. Any suggestions? Thanks.
